Free Valet Parking Service at Mercy starts July 14
MASON CITY - In an effort to increase access and ease parking difficulties for patients and visitors, Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa (Mercy) has hired Curbside Services to provide free valet parking and related services beginning Monday, July 14.
“Valet parking responds to requests and feedback we have gotten from patients and from the community,” says Jim FitzPatrick, Mercy’s President/CEO. “The nature of patient care has changed in recent years in that we are providing more procedures on an outpatient basis. Also, we have an increasing number of older patients who often find it difficult to walk from parking lots. Valet parking helps alleviate all those problems for everyone coming to our medical center.”
At Mercy, Curbside’s welcoming and valet parking service will be available, free of charge, to patients and visitors from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays at the main entrance of the East Campus. Curbside attendants also manage wheelchairs and other equipment. They direct patients to ensure they get to their hospital destinations promptly and easily. In inclement weather, parking attendants stand ready with umbrellas.
“We share Mercy’s belief that patients and visitors should not have to worry about where to park, how to manage a wheelchair, or struggle to the door to get to their appointments,” says Curbside president John Udelson. “We take the worry out of that.”
Mercy and Curbside believe that the perception of hospital services extends beyond quality patient care, reaching beyond hospital doors to encompass the accommodations made for parking and ease in entering the facility.
