Outpatient Program
Specialized, multi-disciplinary treatment programs are available to adults who need an intermediate level of care. An Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization provides support two to five times a week. These programs may be combined with other therapy services such as family counseling. For more information, call 641-422-7366.
School-Based Therapy Programs
Jill Peters, Psy.D, provides school-based individual and group therapy services that assist students who are struggling with family, friends or school problems. Transitions during middle school can be difficult for students. This school-based therapy program can help kids who are experiencing a decrease in school performance, withdrawal from friends and activities, sadness and hopelessness, lack of enthusiasm or energy, anger and rage, poor self-esteem or guilt, restlessness and agitation, changes in eating or sleeping patterns or suicidal thoughts or actions. This program is currently being offered at John Adams & Roosevelt Middle Schools in Mason City, Clear Lake Middle School and at the Hampton Middle and High Schools. Please call 641-422-7797 for more information.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Mercy Employee Assistance Program, known as MercyWorks EAP, provides confidential counseling for employees and immediate family members, who are having personal concerns such as family conflicts, substance abuse, stress and/or depression. These issues often affect work performance. Employers can contract with MercyWorks EAP to provide the counseling employees need to overcome these issues and continue as a contributing member of the work team. Click here for more information (have this link to the current EAP site).
Women's Services
Counseling services are available for women at the Mercy Women's Health Center and are provided by female professionals. A multi-disciplinary approach is utilized and services are available for depression, anxiety, stress resulting from medical problems, hormonal challenges (i.e. PMS, menopause and post-partum depression), eating disorders and body image, and other gender issues including role conflicts and life transitions. For more information, call 641-422-6006.
Biofeedback/Stress Management
Stress and tension have many adverse effects on both physical and emotional health. Headaches, hypertension, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome and anxiety are all examples of health problems, which may be related to an inability to cope effectively with stress. Biofeedback can help an individual become aware of the effects of stress on the body. Individuals can learn relaxation skills, which will be of benefit physically and emotionally. For more information, call 641-422-7797.
Community Based Services
Mercy Behavioral Services are available in a variety of settings throughout North Iowa including physician clinics. Mercy staff collaborate with physicians of all specialties as well as with other community based mental health and social service organizations, such as the Mental Health Center of North Iowa and Department of Human Services. They also work with case managers to ensure that patients' needs for holistic care are addressed.
