Colonoscopy

ColonscopyThe colonoscopy is a very valuable procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the colon. Colonoscopy allows the physician to examine the lining of the colon using a flexible tube. The decision to perform this procedure was based upon the assessment of your medical condition. Biopsies (tissue samples) may be taken. Polyps (abnormal growths of tissue) may be found. These polyps may be cancerous or become cancerous in the future and should be removed and sent for pathologic examination. You would be notified of any pathology report in approximately two weeks.
