Pediatric Unit Visiting Guidelines
Who may visit
- Parents, grandparents, or designated significant other may visit 24 hours a day
- All other visitors are welcome to visit per patient/family discretion.
- Siblings may visit if accompanied by an adult; If patient is infectious, sibling must stay in patients room
- Visitors less than 14 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Visitors are not allowed to visit when a parent/guardian is not present without prior parental permission.
Parent(s) / guardian(s), adult family member(s) are encouraged to stay with their child during their hospitalization, in order to provide a loving, secure, and familiar environment for their child. Sleeper chairs/cots and continental breakfast are made available for those who stay overnight.
Visitor Screening and Registration
Pediatrics is locked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In order for visitors to enter the department they must request permission to enter by using the phone outside the unit.
Visitors are asked to sign in at the nurse's station and complete the visitor's health screen. Visitors are also asked to please wash your hands before having contact with the child.
Visitors are encouraged to bring gifts, support and encouragement to child and parents. Balloons must be Mylar, latex-free and without a sand weight.
Please refrain from bringing illness or exposure to communicable diseases. Visitors must be free from any of these symptoms in the past 24 hours:
- Fever
- Rash
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Upper respiratory infections
- Cold sores or shingles
Exposure to chicken pox or other communicable disease within the past three weeks.
Visitors will not be allowed to visit when a parent/guardian is not present without prior parental permission.
